HOW TO CONFIRM YOUR ESHOP ACCOUNT REGION
Note: Players with Nintendo Accounts in a country with a limited version of Nintendo eShop can only adjust the Password-Entry Settings and Active-Console Status.
- Select Nintendo eShop on the HOME Menu to launch the Nintendo eShop.
- If there are multiple user accounts on your system, select the account you want to use.
- Select your icon in the upper-right corner to access your Account Information.
- The following options are available:
- Current balance: View your current balance, add funds, and/or merge funds with a Nintendo Network ID.
- Gold Points balance: Displays the My Nintendo Gold Points that you currently have available to use towards a purchase.
- Credit Card Information: View information about your stored credit card (last 4 digits and card expiration date) and/or delete the saved credit card.
- PayPal: View information about your linked PayPal account (partial e-mail) and/or unlink the PayPal account from your Nintendo Account.
- Automatic Renewal / Pre-orders Payment Method: Set the desired payment method (credit card, PayPal, or available funds) for the payment of your subscriptions, passes, memberships, or pre-orders.
- Location Settings: Displays your current Nintendo eShop location. (Sales tax for Nintendo eShop purchases vary from region to region)
HOW TO REDEEM ESHOP CODE ONLINE
Important
- A Nintendo Account is required to redeem download codes online.
- If you are redeeming a download code on a Wii U or Nintendo 3DS, you must also link your Nintendo Network ID to your Nintendo Account.
- If redeeming a download code for Nintendo Switch content, you must first access the Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch using your Nintendo Account at least once.
- On Nintendo 3DS, download codes for in-game DLC and Themes cannot be redeemed online.
- In-game DLC must be redeemed within the specific Nintendo 3DS game.
- Theme download codes must be redeemed in the Theme Shop on Nintendo 3DS.
Steps:
- Using a browser, visit ec.nintendo.com/redeem/#/
- Select Sign in and enter your Nintendo Account e-mail address and password, and then select Sign in again.
- If you are already signed in, review the user name in the top-right corner to confirm you are signed in with the correct Nintendo Account
- Enter your 16-digit download code and then select, Next
- Re-enter your Nintendo Account password when prompted, then select Redeem to complete the process.
- A confirmation e-mail will also be sent to the e-mail address registered to your Nintendo Account once this process is completed.
HOW TO REDEEM ESHOP WALLET / MEMBERSHIP CODE ON DEVICE
- Select Nintendo eShop on the HOME Menu to launch the Nintendo eShop.
- Select the account you want to use.
- Select Nintendo eShop Prepaid Funds Code / Enter Code on the left side of the screen.
- Enter the 16-character download code.
- Some retailer cards for Nintendo Switch software will include both a Control Number and a Download Code. Make sure that you are entering the Download Code (usually begins with a B, no hyphens in the number) and not the Control Number (usually begins with an S, has hyphens).
- Any letters and symbols not used with prepaid codes (i.e. O, I, Z, commas, hyphens, etc.) will be disabled from the on-screen keyboard.
- Select OK to confirm. The wallet will be added once the code is confirmed. The online membership will be activated once the code is confirmed.
HOW TO PURCHASE OR DOWNLOAD CONTENT IN THE ESHOP
- Select Nintendo eShop on the HOME Menu to launch the Nintendo eShop.
- Select the account you want to use.
- Locate the game that you want to purchase, and select it to reach the game details page.
- Any DLC or In-Game Items associated with the game will also be available through the game details page. Select the individual DLC/item from the game details to proceed with purchasing it.
- Select Proceed to Purchase.
ERROR MESSAGE: THIS CODE HAS ALREADY BEEN USED
Situations:
- Received the error message “This code has already been used” or “This download code has already been used”.
- A download code is not working because it has already been redeemed.
What to Do:
- Verify that you are entering the correct download code.
- The download code is a 16-digit code that is printed when you made the purchase.
- If some numbers are hard to read, try entering similar numbers. (For example, a 0 may look like an 8, a 5 may look like a 2, etc.)
